Nigeria edge South Africa for ninth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in 11 editions
Nigeria needed penalties to claim the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations championship over South Africa after the match ended 0-0 on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi was the hero of the day, saving Linda Motlhalo’s effort from the spot to hand her side the trophy in Accra, Ghana.
The triumph gives Nigeria nine titles in the 11 editions of the competition and two straight.
Nigeria and South Africa have qualified for next year’s Women’s World Cup in France, along with Cameroon who finished third.
